There can be quite a bit of confusion about the role of a Music Publisher or Publishing Company.
When a client enters into a Publishing agreement, the client assigns the rights of their works to the Publisher over a period of time, so as to exploit the works of the client in whatever way possible to ensure the best returns by way of royalty payments for use of the works by various media users.
This can include T.V, & Radio Production Companies,
Advertising Agencies or even the use by other Record Labels for compilations.
The publisher receives
a percentage of the income generated from sales and usages by any or all of the above mentioned media by way of the publishers extensive contact list which can take many years to
accumulate.
Music recieved by media companies in this way is classed as solicited, ie; that it is under a publishing agreement and/or has a release on a record label.
Some companies
refuse to accept unsolcited material as it is unlikely to have recieved the same exposure as works under contract.
As you can see, the role of a Publisher can be manifold and the above examples are just a condensed part of the ways a publisher can promote your music to the right media contacts in the right way.
"JUDMUSIC PUBLISHING" was launched in January 2004 to accommodate the growing number of clients with finished work.
